Do you have a sense of purpose? Is there anything that you are always seeking, that gives meaning to your life? I’ve been thinking about how can I help more people and motivate them to start a new venture. I strongly believe that entrepreneurs can change the planet, and I want to see more people trying to build what is impossible. Do you know why? I'm not sure yet, but I’m looking for it.
Today I want to share with you some thought about a book that made me think about it. Plus, this book is not just inspiring, but it brings some lessons for those who are willing to launch her or his startup. The book is: Start With Why, from Simon Sinek. If you are lazy to ready, there is a 15 minutes TED talk that you can watch online. This book is about how us, Homo sapiens, think.
Understanding how people think is important to, first, understand yourself, and then understand others. More than that, as Simon mentions, when you think in the right set of priorities you will motivate people, you will inspire people. For those who are going into a new venture, remember you are trying to change the status quo, changing how things are done. To be successful in this mission you must inspire who is onboard with you, and you need to convince people that your proposition is valuable.
What Simon discusses in his book is the Golden Circle, first Why, then How and then What. That’s is how we think, and why means the real value something has to you. I’m not here to summarize the book, I here to say that it is a book that I would recommend to anyone, entrepreneur or not. Having purpose in life is one step for happiness.
