This OSA (one step ahead) concept is something that I don’t see people discussing in the Brazilian ecosystem. Having this in mind is what drives the Silicon Valley to change the world. Before that, I have to ask you: do you know what this concept means? The meaning of it, and why you, entrepreneur, must think about it is more important than why we, Brazilians, do not talk about it, as we should.
The meaning is simple: your one step ahead is what you want to do in the long run. Let’s use Uber Eats (UE) as an example. Today UE provides logistic services for restaurants to deliver food. On the other side, it is a marketplace for people to buy food. But the OSA of Uber Eats is to understand what, when and where people eat. Uber is creating intelligence regarding users preferences. The end goal is to be an advertisement company, selling its knowledge to restaurants, as Google does with Google Ads.
Now, for you, who are starting your business, you must think about it as much as you feel about your MVP. I think that Brazilian startups are focusing on monetising fast, to build a sellable solution. Founders are missing the one step ahead, the long run magic. It is essential to have that in mind for feel reasons:
• It will drive you, helping you build your roadmap.
• This goal is what you need to achieve to finally change the world.
• Plus, most of the investors will invest in you if they believe in that.
OSA is almost like a dream, for sure. If you can dream, you can build. And dreams are what make startups greats. Many successful startups are so valuable due to its One Step Ahead goal. Don’t miss yours.
