It is intuitive to say: is hard to fundraise in Brazil, money is expensive. I can’t agree with it. Indeed, money in Brazil is more expensive than in most of the developed countries. On the other hand, fundraise here is not that hard. If you think it is, you are doing something wrong.
Every single panel regarding fundraising in Brazil I attend, Venture Capitalists (VCs) are saying that they struggle to find good startups to invest. Plus, they say the market is getting more liquid every day. Similar to what happened in Silicon Valley, Corporate Ventures are out in the market, competing with professional VCs. Moreover, the Brazilian economy moved on from the latest politic and economic crisis. The Brazilian startup ecosystem is getting awareness worldwide, with 99, for example.
Looking from a different perspective, entrepreneurs are always struggling with finding investors. So, where is the issue of this relationship?
I’m sure the Brazilian VC ecosystem is not so mature are it is in the USA, but I’ve been dealing with Brazilian entrepreneurs, and I believe they have more room to improve. The question you should be asking is:
• How should I prepare myself for fundraising?
I already gave you the first lesson some weeks, and I’m not giving you the full lesson now. My aim here is to put in your, entrepreneur, mind, that if you are prepared, you will not struggle to find investment. In sum, from an entrepreneur perspective, there is no reason to complain regarding lacking on investment.
