That’s a common question among my friends. They all know a bit about my job, and that is the first question they all ask me. I’m sure it is one of the first doubts of any entrepreneur. I will give you my answer and advice regarding that.
I won’t spend much of your time; my answer is one short sentence:
Yes, it is that simple. You should start validating your idea or doing market research. Start building an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), or just a ppt with your thoughts. In my opinion, it does not matter; it will not change your success.
I can say what you cannot do when you decide to start. Don’t keep it as a secret. Spread the word! Ask for any opinion from any person around you. The fear of having your idea copied is the worse mistake you can do. Ideas are worthless; advice is gold.
When you decide to start, there are a feel thinks you can do:
• Research the market
o Check if people really have that need;
o Look for companies with a similar proposition;
o Draft what you want to build, as simple as possible.
o Look for advice. Having people with different skills and experiences is extremely important.
• Buying a domain
o Be a profession, and buy a web domain. It is cheap.
Any of those things are good starting points. You just need to pick one. That is the difference between regular people and successful entrepreneurs; they’ve started. Forget about fundraising at this point. Focus all your effort on building a great solution and learning everything regarding the market. Finding the right time for the market you want to get in is not easy. At last, spread the word; share your ideas!
