One of the biggest challenges for entrepreneurs is to implement their idea. How do I make this a reality? Entrepreneurship is about innovation, but to innovate doesn’t only mean to create something new. Think that you need to connect the dots of what you are trying to accomplish.
When I say connect the dots, I mean to do it in parts. It doesn’t matter if you are starting a restaurant or a technology business. The first thing to think about is the problem that you want to solve, because every business solves something, facilitates some process, supplies some need.
The second step is to think about how to achieve this goal. That is where the beauty of innovation stands out. To create your innovative solution, you don’t have to develop everything from the beginning. Often the secret is to unite existing technologies and adapt them to your need. A great example is the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Cloud. One captures the data (Big Data), another transmits the data (IoT) and the other to storage everything (Cloud).
This triangle is the basis of many businesses nowadays, but they weren’t born together:
• You've been using the cloud for years now with Dropbox;
• Your phone has been connected to the Internet for more than a decade;
• Your car has had sensors for longer than you think.
Another example, which should happen in the future, is the self-driving car. The technologies needed to make this a reality already exist. The race now is to know who will be able to connect them faster and more efficiently.
Using these examples, rethink your ideas on how to innovate. Think that to innovate is also to transform. This will make your entrepreneurial mission much easier. Start thinking about connecting points to create something different. Open your head, think outside the box.
