Working at a startup means being hired to develop the business and also to work in marketing, sales, finances, administrative and even HR, why not? Being multifunctional is a very important quality for anyone who wants to live this entrepreneurial life. The ability to perform several different tasks is tied to resilience and organization.
My last few months show how true this is. The need to perform different tasks usually comes from the dynamism of a startup business. Priorities change very fast because you are always in search of the right product, the most appropriate business model, or the best marketing strategy. Not accepting anything as good enough and always trying to improve is one of the secrets to success, which consequently makes the work environment dynamic and volatile.
Another factor that makes us work in different areas is the reduced team. Many of these priorities do not justify hiring new members, as they are only momentary.... Besides, money is always a problem. Therefore, it is better to have a person who can perform several functions than several people. If you want to be a successful multitasking person, it’s good to work on your resilience as this is the main quality you should have.
Resilience is the ability to retract and return to shape after bending, stretching or compressing. Ability to resist or recover quickly.
To perform several different tasks, you need to change and adapt constantly. The business world lives in eternal mutation, and you must be flexible and develop knowledge that is not your specialty to overcome the pressure that it is to be an entrepreneur.
I have lived this mutation intensely. One of the things I enjoy the most about my job is the constant learning; I am sure I'm becoming a better person thanks to this experience. Even if our Startup doesn’t work, I'm sure I'll try my best until the end, because what I’ve already learned me and what I can still learn is priceless. If the business fails, I will still have several other reasons to be proud of this experience.
